Biography
Since my childhood I have always been surrounded by music in my family. I started playing the piano at the age of 7 and began my musical education at the music school of the conservatory in my hometown Šiauliai. The decision to become a professional musician came naturally to me after I graduated from music school at the age of 14. I entered the Šiauliai Conservatory (now S. Sondeckis Art High School), where I continued to have piano lessons with my teacher Laimutė Mameniškytė. In 2010, I started studying piano at the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theater, where I completed my bachelor's and master's degrees in piano performance with Prof. Jurgis Karnavičius. In 2012, I went to Weimer as part of an ERASMUS exchange program and studied for a semester at the Franz Liszt Academy of Music with Prof. Balazs Szokolay.
Towards the end of my piano master's degree, I became more and more interested in sound recording production. I attended private courses on the basics of sound engineering to gain a better understanding and started to generate ideas for a sideline to my first profession - playing the piano. Not long after graduating from the Vilnius Academy, I made the decision to go abroad and train professionally as a sound engineer. I ended up at the Zurich University of the Arts, where I sound engineering and producing with Andreas Werner and Andreas Brüll for another 6 years and continued to have piano lessons with Karl-Andreas Kolly.
During my studies at the ZHdK, I took part in an ICST research program "Performing live electronic music" in 2018, where I carried out the video-audio documentation of the first two years of the project and was then responsible for the CD production and concert recordings of the last two years of the project. The SACD of the project "Les Espaces Electroacoustiques III" was released in 2023 in stereo and surround formats. The research program "Performing Live Electronic Music" became the core topic of my master's thesis, in which I further explored the practice of recording and mixing music with live electronics in the immersive Dolby Atmos format.
After graduating, I continued to work in Switzerland as a freelance producer and sound engineer specializing in the production of classical music and concert recordings. Together with my colleague Alvin Devonas, we also regularly organize video-audio productions. One of my main activities is also working with the Tonhalle Orchestra Zurich in the field of video-audio production and live streaming. In addition, I often work as an assistant sound engineer on CD productions with the Dutch production company Polyhymnia. Under the direction of mixing engineer Jean-Marie Geijsen and producer Philip Traugott, I assisted on CD productions of the Tonhalle Orchestra Zurich, the Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen and also took part in other projects in Dresden, Madrid and Marseille.
