Biography

Growing up in a musical family, I began playing the piano at the age of seven and started my formal musical education at the Music School of the Conservatory in my hometown, Šiauliai. After graduating from Juventa elementary/middle school and the Music School of the Conservatory at age 14, I felt it was natural to pursue a professional path in music. I continued my studies at the Šiauliai Conservatory (now the S. Sondeckis Art High School), where I studied piano with Laimutė Mameniškytė.

In 2010, I enrolled at the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre, where I completed both my bachelor's and master's degrees in piano performance under the guidance of Prof. Jurgis Karnavičius. During this time, I also participated in the ERASMUS exchange program and studied for a semester at the Franz Liszt Academy of Music in Weimar with Prof. Balázs Szokolay.

Toward the end of my piano studies, I developed a growing interest in sound recording and music production. I began taking private courses in sound engineering and started envisioning a parallel career alongside my life as a pianist. After completing my degree in Vilnius, I moved to Switzerland to study professionally in this field. I was accepted into the Zurich University of the Arts, where I spent six years studying sound engineering and music production with Andreas Werner and Andreas Brüll, while continuing piano lessons with Karl-Andreas Kolly.

In 2018, during my time at ZHdK, I joined the ICST research program Performing Live Electronic Music, where I was responsible for the audio-video documentation of the first two years and later oversaw CD production and concert recordings. This work culminated in the 2023 release of the SACD Les Espaces Électroacoustiques III, available in both stereo and surround formats. The program also became the foundation of my master’s thesis, in which I explored techniques for recording and mixing music with live electronics, particularly in immersive formats such as Dolby Atmos.

Since graduating, I have been working in Switzerland as a freelance producer and sound engineer, specializing in classical music production and concert recordings. I regularly produce CDs in collaboration with various artists in Switzerland and Lithuania. In 2022, I joined the newly established livestream and video-audio recording team at Tonhalle Zürich, working alongside Stephan Brülhart, Andreas Werner and Brian Burman. In 2024, I began working with SRF (Swiss Radio and Television) as a freelance sound engineer for external productions.

Together with my colleagues Alvin Devonas and Marin Wolf, I regularly produce video-audio projects. We provide production services for the Youth Symphony Orchestra Zürich (JSOZ), the Youth Symphonic Wind Orchestra Zürich (JBOZ), as well as for various chamber music ensembles and soloists.

In addition, I frequently assist on CD productions with the Dutch production company Polyhymnia, working under the direction of mixing engineer Jean-Marie Geijsen and producer Philip Traugott. In this role, I have contributed to recordings with the Tonhalle Orchestra Zurich, the Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen, and other projects in Dresden, Madrid, and Marseille.
